Ana Hays is a writer and the executive director of the Thistlewood Foundation. She was previously the director of marketing communications and community education at Hospice of the Valley in San Jose, Calif. Prior to her work at Hospice of the Valley, she worked for Hewlett-Packard Company and Agilent Technologies, where she managed the internal employee volunteer fundraising campaigns raising greater than $18 million in employee/corporate contributions for a multitude of charities. At higher education institutions, Ana was the director of executive education at Stanford Law School and the associate director of conference and special events at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where she led executive education programs and fund development events. During her tenure at the Chicago History Museum, she managed the volunteer boards and their fundraising efforts. Ana’s writing is published in The California Writers Club Literary Review, and the anthologies Nothing But the Truth So Help Me God—51 Women Reveal the Power of Positive Female Connection, Chicken Soup for the Adopted Soul, and Chicken Soup for the Soul—the Joy of Adoption. Ana has served on the San Francisco Bay Area Facing History advisory board, is the past chair of the Peninsula Volunteers 2014 Annual Authors Salon, and has served on the boards of the Peninsula Volunteers, Inc., the Hospice and Palliative Care Association, Next Way Young Professionals of United Way Silicon Valley, Today’s Youth Matter, and she is a past president of the ISUAA Club of Chicago. During her tenure on the ISUAA Board of Directors, Ana has served on the Officers Nominating, Governance, Awards and Selections, and Membership and Revenue Committees.
