2008 Board Slate
2008 Board of Directors Slate

In spring 2008, members of the Iowa State University Alumni Association were invited to vote to approve the the following slate of candidates for the ISUAA Board of Directors or write in up to four individuals in place of the individuals listed. Ballots must have been received by the Alumni Association by May 5 to be counted. Final results will be announced at the Annual Meeting and Dinner on May 30, 2008.


James DeLano**
’87 DVM
San Ramon, Calif


Jim DeLano is a founding general partner of Bishop Ranch Veterinary Center, a veterinary hospital that employs 14 veterinarians and 100 support staff. Last year, the practice cared for more than 15,000 families. As a vet student, Jim co-founded the Student Chapter of the AVMA Scamper, a 5K/10K fundraiser fun run that is still being run today. Jim has been an ISU Alumni Admissions Ambassador, calling on prospective ISU students for nearly 25 years, and he is a donor to the College of Veterinary Medicine. He recently served on an advisory board to a local alternative education school in his community, and he has been a leader of the veterinary science course for his local 4-H Club. A life member of the ISUAA, Jim says, “I know the foundation for my success lies in my strong family life as well as the experience, mentorship, and training I received at ISU. I will bring a unique perspective to the board.”

Billi Hunt**
’93 Housing
Urbandale, Iowa

Billi Hunt is a government affairs manager for DuPont. She holds a master of public relations from Drake University. As a student at Iowa State, she held several leadership positions in the Student Alumni Association (now SALC), and she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority and involved in a variety of activities in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences (now College of Human Sciences). Since graduation, she has stayed involved with Iowa State as a sustaining life member of the ISU Alumni Association and as a member of the Alliance for ISU, National Cyclone Club, SAA Reunion Committee, Greater Des Moines Cyclone Club Board, Young Alumni Club of Greater Des Moines, and ISU Extension Women in Financial Planning steering committee. Billi was named to the Des Moines Business Record “Forty Under 40” class in 2004. She has been involved in community service, including leadership roles in Iowans for a Better Future, Gov. Tom Vilsack’s 2010 Strategic Planning Council, and more. She says the ISU Alumni Association is “embarking on some exciting times … and I would love to put my energy toward achieving the goals that have been set forth.”

Michelle Moseman**
’98 Computer Science
Kansas City, Mo.


Michelle Moseman is the director of development operations at Cerner Corporation. At Iowa State, she was involved in the Student Alumni Association (now SALC), Delta Zeta sorority, and many other organizations and honor societies. As an alumna, Michelle is a life member of the ISU Alumni Association and an ISU Alumni Admissions Ambassador; she has also been involved with activities in ISU’s Department of Computer Science. She has interviewed ISU students for employment at Cerner since 2001. She is currently a Youth Friends e-mentor volunteer and is alumna advisor to the Delta Zeta chapter at William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo. She has been honored with a number of Cerner Corporation’s top awards – Top Gun, Millenium Club, Best Community Award – and she received the Youth Friends Employer Partner Volunteer Award in 2004. Michelle says her volunteer experience as a sorority advisor and her professional experience as campus recruiter has allowed her to gain a unique insight into today’s young alumni.

Kay Kretschmar Runge**
’69 History Education
Davenport, Iowa


Kay Runge is well known in central Iowa as the director of the Des Moines Public Library, a position she held from 2001 to 2007. In that role, she oversaw a new $33 million Central Library for the city of Des Moines. Kay is now a public library building consultant. As an ISU student, Kay was a member of Alpha Delta Pi and was involved in Stars Over Veishea and the ISU Symphonic Band. Since graduation, she has served Iowa State as a member of the Foundation Board of Governors, Liberal Arts and Sciences Advisory Board, and Stanton Carillon Foundation Board. She has served as president of the Iowa Library Association and as president of the Public Library Association/American Library Association. She received the Carrie Chapman Catt Award for Public Advancement in 2006 and a Women of Influence Award in 2004. A life member of the ISUAA, Kay serves on a number of boards in the Des Moines area. She says, “Future alumni are important to the continued health of Iowa State, and I would be honored to help with the continued success of the Alumni Association.”
