Jon is a staff internist and gastroenterologist at the McFarland Clinic in Ames. He received his MD from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1979. As a student at Iowa State, Jon was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Eta Sigma, Pi Mu Epsilon, and was a High Scholarship Student in the College of Sciences and Humanities. Jon is an ISU Alumni Ambassador, a member of the Order of the Knoll and the Cyclone Club, and has served on the Ames-Story County Cyclone Club Board of Directors. He was named Cy's Favorite Alumnus in 1995, and was on both the Advisory Board to the Athletic Director and the National Cyclone Club Advisory Board, and has been active with the Theta Chi Fraternity. Jon is involved with the university's current comprehensive fundraising campaign through athletics. He has served on the Facilities, Membership and Revenue Enhancement, Executive, Governance, and Awards Review and Selection Committees. He was also chair of the Task Force on the future governance structure of the ISUAA and the ISUAA's future alignment within the university structure.
