Kay Runge
Kay is well known in central Iowa as the director of the Des Moines Public Library, a position she held from 2001 to 2007. In that role, she oversaw a new $33 million Central Library for the city of Des Moines. Kay is now a public library building consultant. As an ISU student, Kay was a member of Alpha Delta Pi and was involved in Stars Over Veishea and the ISU Symphonic Band. Since graduation, she has served Iowa State as a member of the Foundation Board of Governors, Liberal Arts and Sciences Advisory Board, and Stanton Carillon Foundation Board. She has served as president of the Iowa Library Association and as president of the Public Library Association/American Library Association. She received the Carrie Chapman Catt Award for Public Advancement in 2006 and a Women of Influence Award in 2004. |
