Matt is an attorney for Dutton, Braun, Staack & Hellman, P.L.C. where he works primarily on business, probate, and real estate matters. His Iowa Law Review article on the unconstitutionality of Iowa’s local option sales tax helped lead to major changes on how rural Iowa schools receive funding under the tax. As a student, Matt served as student body president and as a member of the Memorial Union Board of Directors. The 2006 James A. Hopson Alumni Volunteer Award winner, Matt is a member of the Cyclone Club, serves as an Alumni Ambassador, and as a Board member for the Union Community School Foundation. Matt has served the ISUAA as a member of the Executive, Governance & Finance Committees and was the charter board liaison to the Young Alumni Council. He currently chairs the ISUAA’s Strategic Planning Task Force. Matt and his wife Sarah have two daughters, Kate and C.J., members of the Iowa State classes of 2029 and 2032.
