Melea is a communications specialist with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University. Since joining the college in 2007, she oversees the creation of STORIES – the college’s award-winning alumni magazine with global distribution of nearly 40,000. In addition to serving as editor of STORIES and contributing to alumni relations, Melea creates news releases, internal reports, and other communication for the college. In recognition of her efforts, she received the Dean’s Citation for Extraordinary Contributions to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in 2009 and the 2011 P&S Excellence Award from Iowa State University. As a student she was involved in Sigma Alpha professional sorority for women in agriculture. Her refereed publications focus on communication channel preferences of farmers. She has served on the outreach and education committee of the National Agricultural Alumni and Development Association and led national workshops on work/life balance.
