About Carole
Hometown: Born and raised in Independence, Mo., a suburb of Kansas City and home of Harry Truman. Except for a couple of years elsewhere in Missouri, I lived in Maryville, Mo., from 1977 until moving to Ames in 1997. Favorite ISU tradition: The swans, Lancelot and Elaine Favorite food: I'm a vegetarian, and I love fresh Iowa produce in the summer! I also love fresh-baked bread and pastries and really good cheese. What I like about my job: I love almost everything about my job, but one of my favorite things to do is to dream and plan an issue of VISIONS, and then watch it become a reality in the hands of talented writers, photographers, and designers. In my spare time, I like to: Walk and hike. (I love Iowa's bike trails and state parks!) Something unique that most people don't know about me: Oh, brother! Where to begin? There's the weird thing about me living in a funeral home for a short time when I was a little kid because my dad was a funeral director. (I was a hit with pre-pubescent boys because I had seen lots of dead bodies.) ... Um, I once drank a beer with humor writer Dave Barry ... I have one thing in common with Admissions Director Marc Harding: I do a mean imitation of Tigger ... I love Broadway musicals and saw my 38th show in New York in 2007 ... If I could have one wish, it would be to have a big, Broadway-caliber singing voice and be able to go on stage and belt out a show-stopper! Alas, I can't carry a tune.
