Jerilyn joined the ISU Alumni Association staff in January 2009 from Mainstream. She brings years of experience in the education field to her position as the program coordinator for the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Iowa State University. In her role as program coordinator, Jerilyn works directly with OLLI at ISU volunteers to design, promote, and administer a variety of classes -- as well as the registration and membership processes -- for the program. OLLI at ISU classes are held in the winter, spring, and fall each year to allow adults aged 50 and older to expand their lifelong learning. In 2010, Jerilyn also began advising the ISU Retirees' Association following the retirement of Jan Breitman.

About Jerilyn

Hometown: Burnside, Iowa
Favorite ISU tradition: Running from one side of campus to the other in 10 minutes to get to my next class

Favorite food: Pepperoni pizza is probably at the top, followed by almost any type of pasta
What I like about my job: I am able to use all of my skills to provide learning opportunities for seniors, along with challenging myself to continue learning new things on a daily basis and improving my skills. We are never too old to learn!
In my spare time, I like to: read mysteries, spend time with my family which includes a dog and cat, enjoy the company of friends, and do genealogical research.
Something unique that most people don't know about me: I love fast cars. As a child, I went to the stock car races every weekend in Webster City and later on I enjoyed going to drag racing strips. In high school I was the only female member of the "Burnside Racers" because I had a 1970 Dodge Challenger SE.
