About Karen

Hometown: Little Falls, Minn.
Favorite ISU tradition: attending the first football game of the season and the Cyclone volleyball games
Favorite foods: Hershey's chocolate, strawberry Twizzlers, and hot fudge sundaes from Dairy Queen
What I like about my job: I like the people I work with who are friendly, kind, and considerate.
In my spare time, I like to: quilt (have my own quilting business), play internet games, read Christian romance books, and play with my grandkids from Boone.
Something unique that people don’t know about me: I am the 2nd oldest of 12 children and took care of my younger siblings as I got older. I loved to hang up the laundry outside and loved hanging out with my dad at his Mobil Gas station. I worked for my dad pumping gas when I was a teen and helped out when needed. I loved watching him repair car engines. I used to drive a 1949 black Chevy straight stick. I have also lived in California, Texas, and Maryland for short periods of time and moved to Iowa in 1971.
