Avid supporters of all things Iowa State University, Erb (’43 architectural engineering) and Marge (’42 home economics) Hunziker have shown unwavering support for the institution.

The couple has supported many campus projects throughout the years, including the Jacobson Athletic Building, which provides a home to many of the athletics department’s administrators, coaches, and staff; the Erb and Marge Hunziker Computer Lab in the Hixson-Lied Student Success Center, which allows students access to today’s cutting-edge technology; and the Marge Hunziker House at Reiman Gardens, which provides additional space for educational workshops and private events.

Erb Hunziker has served as an ISU Foundation Governor since 1990 and is a past board of directors member. He has served on a number of Foundation committees, including the investment committee. In his role on that committee, Erb helped grow the Foundation’s endowment from $70.9 million to $256.3 million.

Erb received the Alumni Medal from the ISU Alumni Association in 1993. A year earlier he was chosen as the “Citizen of the Year” by the Ames Tribune and has also been named the “Business Person of the Year” by the Ames Chamber of Commerce.

While serving as advocates for Iowa State and the Cyclones, the couple has also played a key role in the development of Ames and surrounding communities. From the Ames Economic Development Commission to the Rotary Club, the Hunzikers have demonstrated tremendous pride in the community and making Ames a better place for everyone.

The Hunzikers are members of the Order of the Knoll W.M. Beardshear Society and the Campanile Society. They are life members of the ISU Alumni Association.
The couple resides in Ames, where Erb is the president of HCS Builders. They are the parents of six children: Dean, Robert, Steven, Jon, Dave, and Gary.
