Ann Gogerty

As a globetrotter for ISU’s Office of Admissions, Ann Gogerty is bringing Iowa State University to the world. While her primary job responsibility as Senior International Admissions Counselor is recruiting international students to attend ISU, she has also meant the world to alumni across the globe. Because the ISU Alumni Association’s budget does not allow for international travel to visit alumni, the Alumni Association staff has benefited immensely from Gogerty’s enthusiasm and willingness to utilize every opportunity she has to connect and strengthen communication with international alumni. She goes above and beyond the call of duty to bring a piece of ISU to those who are far away from their alma mater. When alumni in Hong Kong enjoy fellowship at an ISU alumni dinner, Gogerty is there. When an alumnus in India receives a special e-mail message from ISU, Gogerty is at the other end. And when a student in Puerto Rico decides to attend her father’s alma mater, Gogerty answers all her questions. Said one of her nominators, “There is no better gift that we could give to our alums living abroad than to have Ann Gogerty carrying Iowa State’s message. She is truly Iowa State’s ambassador to the world.”

Gogerty, who received a bachelor’s degree in communications from Loras College before earning her master’s in education from ISU, spends two months out of each semester traveling abroad, recruiting future ISU students and soliciting the assistance of international alumni in the process. She manages the International Admissions Alumni Council and works with on-campus student clubs and International Student Ambassadors. Gogerty is an annual member of the ISU Alumni Association.
