Judy Weiland 2003
Judy Weiland, record analyst responsible for graduate students’ records in the departments of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education, is often the first point of contact for many students. And time and time again, the department hears that it was Weiland’s care and concern that were the deciding factors in their decision to enroll at Iowa State. No problem is too small or too great for her to resolve. From helping international students find housing and health care, to helping students with forms, applications, and final examinations --Weiland has the answers. She possesses a highly effective combination of abilities: extraordinary human relations and interpersonal communication skills, a wealth of knowledge about graduate education requirements, and a deep concern and compassion for those with whom she works. She works equally as well with faculty and other staff in carrying out the administrative role of graduate education. Returning alumni invariably connect with Weiland, and she continues to carry out Iowa State’s mission well after her “charges” graduate. She has served Iowa State since 1981, and in 1999 received the College of Education Exemplary Service Award. |
