Sandra and Roy Uelner 2008
Sandra S. Uelner Roy and Sandy Uelner have dedicated a lifetime to providing inspirational service to their community and to their alma mater. Currently members of the Order of the Knoll Beardshear Society, the Uelners are longtime supporters of the Iowa State University Foundation. They have given to support Cyclone Stadium, Parks Library, the Greenlee School of Journalism and Communication, their colleges, the ISU Presidential Mace, the south campus gateway, and, most recently, the ISU Alumni Center. Roy was elected to the ISU Foundation Board of Governors in 1978 and currently serves on the board’s awards committee after six years on the organization’s nominating committee. Roy served on the ISU Alumni Association’s Board of Directors from 1982-1986, including a term as president. Today, Roy and Sandy serve as co-chairs of The Circle, a society of former ISUAA board chairs and presidents. Roy is a former president of the ISU Alumni Association Club of Milwaukee, and the Uelners are longtime National Cyclone Club members. Roy, who received the ISU College of Engineering’s Professional Achievement Citation in 1980, is a past chair of the Farm and Industrial Equipment Institute, which made him an honorary member in 1990. He is also an honorary Fellow of the American Society of Agricultural Engineers. Sandy has held a variety of volunteer positions, including extensive service to the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, from which she “retired” in 2001 with 7,200 hours. The couple has two sons, Steven ’84 and Scott, and three grandchildren. The Uelners are Order of the Knoll members, Cyclone Club members, and lifetime and sustaining life members of the ISU Alumni Association. |
