David Allbaugh 2009

David R. Allbaugh

BS Aerospace Engineering ’70
Waterloo, Iowa

A U.S. Air Force pilot and officer who served his country in Vietnam, Dave Allbaugh represents the spirit of excellence that is so unique to the U.S. armed forces. A distinguished professional who rose to the position of operations manager at John Deere’s largest worldwide product engineering center, Allbaugh also has a track record of embracing, innovating, and celebrating technology. A Waterloo native who raised his family in the Cedar Valley, Allbaugh has continually reached out to his community. And with his latest accomplishment, Allbaugh has combined the three – military service, technological excellence, and community outreach – beautifully.

Thanks to Allbaugh’s outstanding leadership, the Waterloo community now boasts the 32,000-square-foot Sullivan Brothers Iowa Veterans Museum, complete with interactive displays that bring Iowa’s veterans’ history to life in vivid detail. It was Allbaugh’s vision to do so.

Now retired from Deere & Company, Allbaugh is extensively involved with the Grout Museum District’s board of directors and Waterloo Downtown Rotary Club. He is a trustee of the First Congregational UCC Church and a past member of the Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area board of trustees, as well as the Cedar Valley Boys & Girls Club’s board of directors. He is an ISU Order of the Knoll member and an annual member of the ISU Alumni Association.

Allbaugh and his wife, Jeanne, have two children: Rachel (’00 animal sci; DVM ’04) and Daniel.
