Daniel H. Yoder

BS Chemical Engineering ’80
Kingwood, Texas

Since graduating from Iowa State in May 1980, Dan Yoder has been continuously employed by Shell Oil Company or its affiliate, Motiva Enterprises. During his career he has progressed through a series of technical and managerial positions of increasing responsibility. This trend continues with his 2008 appointment as production manager for Deer Park Chemicals, Shell’s largest chemical manufacturing plant in the United States. In this capacity Yoder leads an organization of more than 400 employees.

As a key member of the Shell Oil/Motiva management team, Yoder has been credited with creating and supervising an outstanding technical organization that has made significant contributions to the overall performance and reliability of the refinery. In fact, when the refinery was heavily damaged and completely shut down by Hurricane Katrina, the organization flew into action under Yoder’s leadership and was able to repair the damage and return the refinery to full operation in an astounding 11 days.

Yoder also participates regularly in the national conferences of both the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the National Petroleum Refining Association (NPRA). He is involved in numerous community activities as well, including youth sports coaching.

Yoder and his wife, Jennifer, have two sons and one daughter. They are ISU Alumni Association annual members.
