Gayle A. Roberts, P.E., is president and chief operating officer of Stanley Consultants, a worldwide provider of engineering, environmental, and construction services. She has the distinction of being the only female president of a major international engineering firm in the United States. Stanley Consultants is currently ranked among the largest engineering companies in the U.S.

Roberts has 28 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry. Her career path in consulting engineering has included positions as business leader, project manager, resident engineer, industrial market leader, and business development manager. She joined Stanley Consultants after graduating from ISU. She earned an M.B.A. from St. Ambrose University in 1991 and is a licensed professional engineer in seven states and Puerto Rico.

Roberts is also very active in the community. She is a board member of the Iowa State Engineering Policy and Leadership Institute, St. Ambrose University, and the American Council of Engineering Companies of Iowa. She is also a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies’ Engineering Excellence’s awards committee. She is member of Rotary International and a former member of both the Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board of Directors and the Iowa State University Chemical and Biological Engineering Department Advisory Council.

She is a life member of the ISU Alumni Association.
