George Bradley

PhD Higher Education and Research ’92
Augusta, Ga.

In a short time, George Bradley has distinguished himself as an effective leader in higher education. An expert in the areas of institutional research and statistics, educational leadership and administration, curriculum development, and mentoring, Bradley has committed his professional life to serving the educational needs of thousands of students.

As president of Paine College, Bradley has played an integral role in the development of historically black colleges and universities; during his first year as president, Bradley raised more than $2 million for capital improvements to the college and continues to build upon the educational and cultural offerings of the school. With more than 21 years of teaching and administrative experience, Bradley has worked in a variety of educational settings to further improve curriculum for graduate and undergraduate students, faculty and staff professional development, and the scholastic achievement of more than 40 doctoral students.

Among Bradley’s many accolades are the South Carolina State University Distinguished Alumni Award, the Lifetime Service Award from the South Carolina General Assembly, and the Hewlett-Bush Fellowship from the Harvard Institute for Educational Management. Writes one nominator, “Dr. Bradley is one of the most compassionate, caring, bright, sensitive leaders in higher education today. His trajectory into leadership roles demonstrates his ability and commitment to historically black colleges and universities.”
