Mark Fleming is the retired president of Strategies on Demand, L.L.C., a Naperville, Ill.-based company that provides market research and management consulting services in the printing and publishing industry. Prior to his work with Strategies on Demand, Fleming held a variety of executive positions in R.R. Donnelly & Sons Company and Duplex Products, Inc., two large printing and information services companies. He began his career in optoelectronics research first as a consultant at M.I.T. Lincoln Laboratory and subsequently as a research manager at 3M.

Fleming was named a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow in 1970 and received an M.S. in applied physics from Harvard University in 1973, a Ph.D. in physics from M.I.T. in 1980, and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University in 1991. He is a member of the honor societies Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Gamma Sigma.

Fleming is a charter member and past chair of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Dean’s Advisory Council; a charter member and the past chair of the Physics and Astronomy Council; founding editor of QUANTA, the Physics and Astronomy alumni newsletter; a member of ISU’s Order of the Knoll; and an ISU Alumni Association life member.
