Stewart Burger 2008
For thousands of students, alumni, friends, and the university president, Stewart Burger makes the Iowa State University campus a home. The impact this hospitality expert has made in the ISU community is seen not only at The Knoll, where he serves as special events coordinator, or in the classroom, where he serves as an adjunct lecturer of ISU’s hotel, restaurant, and institution management program within the Department of Apparel, Educational Studies, and Hospitality Management, but in the countless lives he has touched during his 35-year career at Iowa State. Burger received his master’s degree from ISU in 1972 and served as the university’s director of campus dining/associate director of residence from 1982-2001 before taking his current position working with President Gregory Geoffroy. He is a leader in his industry who has earned numerous certifications from the Culinary Institute of America, National Restaurant Association, and National Association of College and University Food Service. He currently serves on ISU’s Hotel, Restaurant & Institution Management Advisory Board. Burger was named Cy’s Favorite Alum in 2000 and was inducted into the Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau Hall of Fame in 1996. A Cyclone Club member, Order of the Knoll member, and lifetime member of the ISU Alumni Association, he has served as faculty advisor to ACACIA Fraternity since 2002. |
