Kari Roehr

BS 1997, Chemical Engineering; BS 1997, Food Science
Carol Stream, Ill.

Kari Roehr, a senior engineer with the Enhancers Division of Kraft Foods, began her contribution to Iowa State and the Alumni Association as a student, and her devotion did not end after graduation. As a member of the Student Alumni Leadership Council, she served as president, played an active role in Parent and Family Weekend, and was the executive officer of the Senior Class Council. Before graduating, she received the prestigious Wallace E. Barron All-University Senior Award. Her family was named Family of Year in 1995. Immediately upon moving to the Chicago area, Roehr began serving on the executive committee of the Alumni Association’s Chicago Chapter, where she developed ways the chapter could become more involved in community service and in doing so, connect with a wider set of alumni. Three years later, the club now supports the University of Chicago Ronald McDonald House, the Northern Illinois Foodbank, and is seeking to support other area organizations.

Roehr is an Alumni Ambassador, and in this role spends many hours contacting potential students in the area to answer their questions about Iowa State and to share her own campus experience. She is a member of the National Cyclone Club and a lifetime member of the ISU Alumni Association, as well as a member of the Order of The Knoll.
