With nearly 2,300 Iowa State University alumni living in and around Seattle, Wash., revitalizing an inactive alumni club in the area rose to the top of the ISU Alumni Association’s priorities in 2006. And when Chris and Olivia Bloomquist stepped up with their leadership and volunteer spirit, the goal became easily attainable.

The Bloomquists demonstrated their commitment to the ISUAA Club of Seattle when they traveled to Ames on their own time and money to attend the inaugural ISU Alumni Association Club Leadership Conference. They took many ideas back to Seattle and immediately made an impact on the quality of, quantity of, and attendance at alumni events in their area. Among the events they’ve organized since assuming leadership of the club are gamewatches, a picnic, a wine tasting, a family bowling event, and a Seattle Mariners baseball outing. The Bloomquists have garnered strong support from members of the Pacific Northwest ISU alumni community and have truly taken on an ambassadorial role.

In addition to leading the club, Chris and Olivia participate in marathons and triathlons and volunteer at Ballard First Lutheran Church. An ISU marching band alumna, Olivia is currently president of the Boeing Employees Concert Band.

The Bloomquists are Cyclone Club members and lifetime members of the ISU Alumni Association.
