William and Judith Hoefle 2009
William D. Hoefle Bill, a faculty member in ISU’s College of Veterinary Medicine for 40 years, and Judy, a registered nurse, were named “Cy’s Favorite Alums” by the ISU athletics department in 2007 for their passionate commitment to such organizations as the ISU Letterwinners Club, Cyclone Club, Cyclone Club Advisory Committee, ISU Athletics Council, and Ames/Story County Cyclone Club. Bill was a member of the Cyclone baseball team and was extensively involved as a student with such organizations as Tau Kappa Epsilon, Block & Bridle, and Cardinal Key. Today Bill’s support for his alma mater is visible through not only his achievements as professor of small animal orthopedic surgery and his support of ISU athletics, but also in the couple’s memberships in the ISU Alumni Association and Order of the Knoll. Bill has served both the ISU Alumni Association’s board of directors, where he was a member of the ISU Alumni Center building committee, and the ISU Foundation’s board of governors. He is also a past president of the Iowa Veterinary Medical Association and the Veterinary Orthopedic Society. He served on the American Veterinary Medical Association’s Council on Education, the accrediting body for colleges of veterinary medicine in North America. In addition to their involvement with Iowa State University, the Hoefles have been members at Collegiate Presbyterian Church since 1970, serving in various leadership positions. They have two children—William Jr. and Paige—and four grandchildren. |
