Andrew and Kari Hensen 2009
Andrew J. Hensen Nine years ago, the Hensens became members of the United Way of Central Iowa’s Emerging Leaders Initiative. Three years ago, they made a commitment serve a 13-year term with the “I Have a Dream” Foundation – an organization that provides ongoing tutoring, academic support, and college tuition for underprivileged youth. The Hensen family sponsors 48 children at Des Moines’ Martin Luther King Elementary School and regularly welcomes the students into their home, making philanthropy a family affair for Andrew, Kari, and their two children: Kelsey and Drew. Kari currently serves as the associate dean of arts and sciences at Des Moines Area Community College. She is active in the Delta Zeta Sorority Alumni Board and has remained involved at ISU as an adviser to students in many capacities; she was named Outstanding Sorority Adviser in 2001 and received the Iowa Student Personnel Association’s Outstanding Service Award in 2003. Andrew is an associate vice president with RBC Wealth Management in Clive, Iowa, and is active with the Ankeny Action Council and the Cyclone Club Advisory Council. The Hensens are Cyclone Club members and annual members of the ISU Alumni Association. |
