Anne C. Campbell

BS History & Interdisciplinary Studies ’98
Minneapolis, Minn.

Anne Campbell’s commitment to making the world a better place is nothing short of incredible, according to those who have seen first-hand the impact she has made around the world in dedicating her life’s work to international service.

Campbell is an independent consultant, currently working on a full-time project in international education for her long-time employer, The Open Society Foundation. Her latest work follows a six-month stint in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, where she served as an administration and human resources coordinator for Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors Without Borders) in the wake of the island nation’s devastating earthquake.

While working with the Open Society Foundation from 2003-2009, Campbell traveled to approximately 20 countries consulting on and administering educational development projects, most notably the organization’s undergraduate exchange program. As its manager, Campbell transformed the program into a ground-breaking youth development and community service model that has received global recognition and touched the lives of hundreds. Prior to joining OSF, Campbell worked as the assistant director of prevention programs in the Iowa Governor’s Office of Drug Control Policy and received the Office of National Drug Control Policy Special Recognition Award in 1999, as well as the Partnership for a Drug-Free America’s 2000 Entrepreneurial Alliance Award.

Campbell also has a strong passion for the work of Habitat for Humanity. She has led teams in India and El Salvador and even rode her bicycle across the U.S. in 2001 to raise money for the organization. Campbell is also the founder and former co-director of the Central Iowa Young Women’s Leadership Institute. She has received Presidential Special Recognition for Exemplary Community Service and United Way Medal for Outstanding Community Service awards.

Through a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship, Campbell earned an M.A. in cultural studies and critical theory from the University of Nottingham (U.K.) in 2002. She is a life member of the ISU Alumni Association.
