Michelle Moseman 2006
There is very little Michelle Moseman doesn’t do. And do well, for that matter. She’s a committed community volunteer, a devoted Iowa State University and Delta Zeta Sorority alumna, an outstanding employee, and a creative computer scientist. And having submitted four patents by the age of 28, she truly epitomizes the spirit in which the Outstanding Young Alumni Award is presented. Moseman is a rising star at Cerner Corporation, a leading innovator of health care information technology solutions headquartered in Kansas City. The company has nearly 7,000 employees worldwide and more than a billion dollars in revenue. She has consistently ranked among the top 5 percent of associates at Cerner, including rankings in the top 1 percent in 2003 and 2005 (Millennium Club). She currently serves as Cerner’s director of development operations. The four patents she has submitted during her time at Cerner are all innovative technologies that will assist intensive care unit health providers in improving patient safety. Moseman also co-founded and currently leads the company’s Intellectual Properties’ Ambassador Program and even supports ISU alumni communications and activities among Cerner employees. A devoted member of Delta Zeta during her ISU days, Moseman remains active with the Clay Platte Alumnae Chapter and has been an alumna adviser to the chapter at William Jewell College for the past seven years. As a student, Moseman was one of only 17 women in the sorority’s history to receive both of Delta Zeta’s national individual awards. She has volunteered with the First Hand Foundation, a non-profit organization that assists children who have clinical health-related needs. Another area in which Moseman has provided service to the Kansas City community is through the Youth Friends e-mentor volunteer program. She single-handedly recruited 72 of her co-workers to participate in the program, and earned the organization’s “Volunteer of the Year” award in 2004. A former chair of the Student Alumni Association’s membership committee, Moseman is now an ISU Alumni Ambassador and a lifetime member of the ISU Alumni Association. |
