Charles Fisher 2008

Charles Fisher

Mt. Auburn, Iowa

Even if there are people on campus who don’t know his name, there’s no mistaking Charles Fisher. His favorite black wig and sunglasses have made him stand out in at least two of his most important collegiate leadership roles: dancing in the Hilton Coliseum crowd as president of Cyclone Alley and dancing up a storm as Dance Marathon’s Recruitment and Morale Co-Director. If there’s an occasion for Fisher to dress the part, he’s ready and willing—but he also takes his responsibilities seriously. In 2006-2007 alone, Fisher served as president of three organizations: Cyclone Alley, Beta Sigma Psi Fraternity, and the Material Advantage Professional Society for materials engineering students. He was involved in Freshmen Council and the Freshmen Honors Program in 2004-2005 and today mentors freshmen through the materials science and engineering mentor program. He has played important roles with the President’s Leadership Class, the Order of Omega Honor Society, the ISU Athletics Director’s Student Advisory Committee, and the College of Engineering’s Dean’s Student Advisory Council. Fisher has also been involved in the Ames community through the GRIP (Great Relationships in Pairs) mentor program, Adopt-A-Highway, Salvation Army bell-ringing, Roosevelt Elementary School Science Night, Boys and Girls Club, Operation Playground, Brookside Park clean-up, and Memorial Lutheran Church.

He is a four-year member of the ISU Student Alumni Association.
