Chris Deal 2007Chris Deal
Jefferson, Iowa Chris Deal has never shied away from leadership, embracing opportunities in philanthropy, community service, scholarship, the Greek community, and student government throughout his career as an ISU student. A member of six honor societies who maintains a 3.98 GPA in mechanical engineering, Deal is more than just a bright student. He is currently general co-director of Dance Marathon, ISU’s largest philanthropic organization, and last year served as vice president of both Phi Delta Theta Fraternity and the ISU Government of the Student Body. He has recently traveled to Brazil as part of the Engineers for a Sustainable World organization to analyze possibilities for a university-operated ethanol system, visited New Orleans to assist with Hurricane Katrina relief efforts, and did conservation work in Australia. A member of the ISU Foundation Student committee, Deal assists with fundraising and alumni events. In the past he has served as president of Freshmen Council, as a seminar leader in the Freshman Honors Program, and as a member of the President’s Leadership Class. He meets weekly with a seventh grade student as part of the Youth & Shelter Services’ GRIP mentor program. In addition, the National Merit Scholar was a finalist for the 2006 Harry S. Truman Scholarship and received the Phi Delta Theta Educational Foundation 2005-2006 Arthur R. Priest Scholarship. He is a student member of the ISU Alumni Association. |
