Daniel Fischer

Neola, Iowa

Daniel Fischer is a Cyclone through and through. His dedication to service, leadership, academics, and university spirit have made him the face of the Iowa State University student body. His ability to organize and motivate others is perhaps best demonstrated in his election to the position of Student Body President for the current academic year. In this role, Fischer has represented the interests of 27,000 students to constituencies across the state of Iowa while managing a $150,000 budget and developing new ideas and communications strategies for ISU’s Government of the Student Body. He carries with him past leadership experiences as the GSB’s director of government relations, supplemental instruction leader in ISU’s Academic Success Center, Cyclone Aide, community service co-chair for the Student Alumni Leadership Council’s Homecoming Central Committee, Student Foundation Committee member, Freshmen Council member, and member of FarmHouse Fraternity – an organization which he has served as recruitment chair, alumni relations director, scholarship chair, and Greek Week co-chair. He has also actively volunteered with the Special Olympics and the Ames Boys & Girls Club. In addition to his service activities, Fischer is a standout in the classroom. He owns a perfect 4.0 grade point average and has worked as a teaching assistant for introductory economics and advanced farm business management courses. He is a member of ISU’s Student Alumni Association.
