Dawniece Trumbo 2007Dawniece Trumbo
Des Moines, Iowa Exemplifying the highest ideals of scholarship and leadership at Iowa State University, Dawniece Trumbo has made her mark on campus through her commitment to a variety of service activities and academic pursuits. An aspiring student affairs administrator who was named an undergraduate fellow of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators in 2006, her service to the department of residence has included roles as a community advisor, Schilletter Village resident manager, Union Drive Association senator, and house officer. Her extensive involvement with the Black Student Alliance has included stints as director of programs, Advancement for Afrikaans chair, fundraising team leader, volunteer, and sponsorship/finance chair for the Big 12 Conference on Black Student Government. Among the other organizations that have benefited from Trumbo’s committed service are the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the Multicultural Action Group, the YWCA’s G.I.R.L.S. Power mentoring program, the Carver Academy, Special Olympics Iowa, Science Bound, Cyclone Aides, and Teach for America. She is a George Washington Carver Scholar and a Ronald McNair Scholar, and she received the Alliant Energy/Erroll B. Davis Jr. Achievement Award in 2006. The Trumbo family was honored as one of ISU’s Families of the Year in 2006, and Dawniece is a member of Phi Sigma Theta, the ISU Honors Program, the Order of Rose and Chessman, the Principal Scholars program, Mortar Board National Honors Society, and Cardinal Key. Trumbo is a student member of the ISU Alumni Association. |
