Margaret McManemin 2008Margaret McManemin
Dallas, Texas Margaret McManemin is the consummate student-athlete. As a four-year Cyclones women’s soccer letterwinner, she was named to both the academic all-conference first team and the Commissioner’s Honor Roll, and she has consistently augmented her already demanding coursework and practice schedule with such activities as the University Honors Program, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, ISU Athletics Council, Athletics Director’s Student Advisory Committee, ISU Pre-Med Club, and ISU Nutrition Club. McManemin also volunteered during her college career as a fundraising coordinator for Relay for Life, community volunteer for Cyclones on Educated Decisions (COED), and as a SALT Company leader. She has worked as a soccer instructor at Texans Soccer Camp in her hometown of Dallas and at Kanakuk Kamps in Branson, Mo., and last summer the aspiring family physician interned with Floyd Cardiology, a private practice in Dallas. Her nominators attest that she has sought out numerous opportunities to extend her medical learning outside the classroom and perform her best academically, all while managing the rigors of Big 12 athletics. On the pitch, McManemin helped lead the Cyclones to their appearance as the state of Iowa’s first-ever team NCAA Tournament qualifier, recording 45 minutes of action against No. 1 Portland in first-round action in 2005. She is a member of the ISU Student Alumni Association. |
