Shellie Mosman 2009Shellie Mosman
Carroll, Iowa
Shellie Mosman does not just epitomize what it means to be an Iowa State University student-athlete, but also what it means to be a citizen. She has a caring commitment to helping others that complements her outstanding academic achievements and strong spirit of teamwork. On the court, in the classroom, and in the community, this Iowa State University basketball player is a true leader. Mosman has a perfect 4.0 grade point average in accounting and has been recognized with the Cyclone High Scholar Athlete Award, among other academic honors and scholarships. A member of the ISU women’s basketball team since 2006, she currently serves as co-vice president of the Student Athlete Advisory Council , as a member of the Athletics Advisory Council, and as a volunteer for alumni activities with the ISU athletics department. Across the state of Iowa, Mosman regularly volunteers in elementary schools and nursing homes, and she is the volunteer director of VERB for kids, a program to encourage youth to stay active. Over the past two years, she has also personally raised more than $5,000 to benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Walk, and she annually raises money and volunteers her time to create Thanksgiving baskets for the needy. For her academic and volunteer efforts, Mosman was named to the Big 12 Good Works Team – a group of the Big 12 Conference’s most service-oriented student-athletes – in winter 2008. |
