Angela Groh 2006
Angela T. GrohThornton, Iowa Angela Groh, president of the ISU Government of the Student Body, was recently selected by Glamour magazine as one of the nation’s “Top Ten College Women” and by the Mason City Globe Gazette as one of “30 under 40” individuals making a difference in Iowa. But Groh’s achievements are so much more than notes on a list: They’re making a real difference to real people on both local and national levels. Before becoming its president, the Thornton, Iowa, native served GSB for two years as its director of government relations. She served on numerous committees and created the ISU Ambassadors program. Groh has played a significant role in state government as well, organizing a three-year statewide campaign to put a student on the state Board of Education. She is a program assistant for the 4-H Office of Iowa, working with the 4-H Youth Technology Team, and has previously served as a page for the president of the Iowa Senate and as a speaker at Capitol Youth Days. On the national level, Groh serves as the executive director for “T.A.P. into the Future,” a nonprofit organization she developed in which teens teach senior citizens how to use computers. She serves on the boards of the ISU Memorial Union, Youth and Shelter Services of Central Iowa, Story County Prevention, and the ISU Foundation and is a member of the State of Iowa 4-H Leadership Council and the National 4-H Professional Development Taskforce. On campus, Groh has also been involved with President’s Leadership Class, Freshmen Council, Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, ISU Ambassadors, VEISHEA, ISU Dance Marathon, and Collegiate 4-H. |
