Leia Guccione

A mechanical engineering and political science major who is a midshipman in the Iowa State Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps, Leia Guccione has been involved in a variety of capacities in the Iowa State community. She is a founding member of Alpha Sigma Kappa Technical Sorority for women in engineering, architecture, and technical sciences. She served as chair of Cy’s All Campus Leadership Summit in 2002 and 2003 and also directed the 2003 Spring Into Leadership Conference. She is a senator representing the College of Engineering to the Government of the Student Body and has served the Iowa State Volunteer Center as both president and treasurer. She has served as an agency liaison for ASSET to provide assistance to disabled Story County residents and is also a former board member of the Story County Volunteer Center. She is a member of the ISU women’s rugby team. Guccione also recently served as a volunteer in Halaucesti, Romania with the Children on the Edge program at the Romanian State Orphanage. She is a student member of the College of Engineering’s GOLD Council.
