Omar Tesdell
Omar Tesdell, co-founder and president of the community advocacy organization Time for Peace, has extensive experience and interest in the areas of advocacy and community development. He recently completed a one-year stint as the George Washington Carver Intern with The World Food Prize. Tesdell spent summer 2003 interning at the International Centre of Bethlehem in Bethlehem, Palestinian West Bank after spending the previous summer as a fellow at Harvard University’s Civil Rights Summer 2002. Tesdell has also interned with the Friends Committee on National Legislation in Washington, D.C. and the Better Safer World campaign in Des Moines. A journalism major who has served as the online editor of the Iowa State Daily and interned as a reporter at the Jordan Times in Amman, Jordan, Tesdell has been involved with a variety of campus organizations such as the student organic farm, Destination Iowa State, VEISHEA parade, intramural soccer, and the Committee on Lectures.
