2003 Sigma Phi Epsilon Reunion

Sigma Phi Epsilon 40-Year Reunion

In August 2003 a total of 45 brothers from the Iowa State Sigma Phi Epsilon classes of 1962 through 1966 returned to Iowa for a reunion. The event was organized jointly by Brother Bruce Barta, Class President 1963, Brother Gary Sutton, Class Comedian 1964, and Brother John Hanson, Class of 1965 and past CEO of Winnebago Industries in Forest City, Iowa - where the weekend event was held.

Brothers and their significant others enjoyed a brats and beer lunch Friday at noon, a stuffed pork chop dinner Friday evening, and a Winnebago plant tour and paddle boat lake tour on Saturday - followed by a steak dinner Saturday evening. The event concluded with a Sunday morning breakfast buffet.

The most impressive attendee was our Brother Mike Moehrl, a quadrapalegic as a result of a fall from a horse. Mike's great attitude was an inspiration to all attending the reunion. Most difficult to accept was the loss of our housemother, Mrs. Carl I. McKone. Mom passed away since our last reunion, but we all still recognize the influence she had on our lives.

To remind all of the attendees, other Iowa State classmates, and all Sig Eps that brotherhood lasts, we submitthe enclosed class composite of the Iowa Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon after about 40 years.

- Recap written and submitted by Thomas E. O'Fallon, Iowa Beta Chapter, Sigma Phi Epsilon; vice president, 1963.
