Alumni Days 2004

View photos from this reunion in our Event Photo Galleries!

Alumni Days was a huge success and enjoyed by 400 alumni and friends on May 20 and 21. Alumni came from all over the U.S. including Hawaii , California , New York , Oregon , and Tennessee . Alumni gathered the evening of May 19 to get reacquainted with their classmates before all the festivities began the next day. Thursday morning began with a bus tour which ended at Reiman Gardens . Guests were greeted by President Geoffroy and proceeded inside where they were served box lunches. After eating, alumni toured the butterfly house, visited the gift store and conservatory, or enjoyed a guided tour of the gardens.

The afternoon was filled with many tour and open house options including The Knoll, Library, Brunnier Gallery, and Morrill Hall. The highlight of the day was “Piersol’s Nifty 50 th”, a musical performance by members of the 1954 class and conducted by Frank Piersol himself. Everyone loved the performance. The 1954 Class had their own Class Dinner, while all the other classes had a separate dinner which included trivia and gold medals for those who didn’t make it to their 50-year reunion. The evening concluded with many alumni attending a spectacular theater performance, “The Promised Land”, by Jane Cox. Others stayed in the Sun Room and enjoyed the camaraderie

After an exhausting day, the energetic participants were up early, socializing, eating, and touring on Friday morning. After a delicious breakfast and entertainment by the 1954 brass quintet, alumni were off to visit their colleges. At noon , everyone experienced “dining in the 2000’s” at the Union Drive Marketplace. Choices included everything from pasta to Chinese to meat and potatoes, and as much ice cream as you could eat! Too many choices, but lots of good food. After lunch alumni could listen to a presentation about the residence halls or tour one of the new suites.

The afternoon was filled with more tours and open houses including Farm House Museum where alumni were entertained by monkey organ, Campanile tours, and virtual reality tours. After the 50-year class made it through their photos, 400 people join together for dinner and the Gold Medal presentation. Over 175 medals and diplomas were given to members of the 1954 Class by President Geoffroy and his wife Kathy, and Jeff Johnson, President of the Alumni Association, and his wife Peggy. The Class of 1954 was officially inducted into the Gold Medal Club.

A special thanks to Ken Larson and his reunion planning committee, for their hard work in putting together a fun and memorable event for 400 alumni and friends to enjoy.

Mark your calendars! Next year everyone who is a member of the Gold Medal Club (graduated over 50 years ago), and graduates from the 1955 Class are invited to celebrate during Alumni Days 2005, May 19 and 20. Alumni Days 2005, will honor the Class of 1955 with special recognition to the classes of 1950, 1945, 1940, 1935, and 1930. More details will be coming as next year's event draws closer.
