Celebrate VEISHEA in Your Community!
The Iowa State University Alumni Association Young Alumni Council has partnered with VEISHEA to encourage Iowa Staters everywhere to find ways to celebrate VEISHEA in Your Community!
Together, we are encouraging individuals, groups of friends, and Iowa State Alumni Clubs to celebrate VEISHEA, on April 16-17 (VEISHEA weekend), around the country. To help you do this, we are sharing this one-page list of potential ideas. You might celebrate VEISHEA in Your Community! by:
• Volunteering at a local non-profit with a group of Iowa State grads;
• Having a picnic and/or a children’s parade;
• Having a cherry-pie baking contest (or getting together to simply eat them!);
• Enjoying a pancake breakfast;
• Streaming the VEISHEA parade
• Sponsoring a speaker with Iowa State Connections

VEISHEA in Your Community, Chicago-Style
In addition to sharing these ideas, the Young Alumni Council is working with the ISUAA Club of Chicago to stage an activity which we hope might serve as an example for other clubs in the future! The Chicago Club is planning to celebrate VEISHEA by gathering at Union Park. They will volunteer with the Chicago Park District. They will celebrate VEISHEA and recognize Earth Day by cleaning-up the park and learning more about our planet and its resources. Participants will get hands-on environmental education while enjoying nature walks, festivals, crafts projects, or even assisting with the care of the park and nature areas. This event will be listed on the on-line list of VEISHEA activities.
Take photos and record video … Share us how you celebrate VEISHEA in Your Community! If you have specific questions, photos, stories, etc. please share them with Cory at cmhanson@iastate.edu.
The mission of the Young Alumni Council is to build the nation’s largest network of engaged young alumni. To find out how you can become involved, please visit: www.isualumni.org/youngalumni
