Current University Benefits to ISU Retirees
Benefits to all retirees:
1. Trouble-shooting assistance with medical plans through Human Resource Services 2. Retiree cards from ISU that entitle the retiree to: - Checkout privileges at the Parks Library - General parking permit - Use of recreational facilities and golf courses at faculty/staff rates 3. Staff rates for intercollegiate athletic events 4. Electronic mail service available through the university mail hub for all emeritus/a retirees and for others who can establish need because of continuing university service 5. A newsletter, generally five per year, about programs and items of general interest to retirees (ISU Retirees Newsletter) -- this includes a page by TIAA-CREF about items of interest to retirees 6. Programs, September through May, for Ames area retirees sponsored by the ISU Retirees Association 7. "Readers Edge" card at Iowa State University Book Store, which permits 10 percent off general books 8. Opportunity to audit ISU courses with permission of instructor if space is available 9. Purchase computer hardware and software through ISU Information Technology Services
Benefits to ISU faculty:
1. Burial in ISU cemetery if criteria are met: - Served the university continuously for at least 20 years - Attained the rank of tenured assistant professor - Terminated employment by retirement or death 2. Retiree representation on University Benefits Committee 3. Continue research and other academic activities if supported by academic unit 4. Emeriti faculty can request continuous listing in printed and Web ISU directories by sending a request to hrsrecord@iastate.edu 5. Non-voting representation on Faculty Senate
Benefits to ISU professional and scientific staff:
1. Burial in ISU cemetery if criteria are met: - Served the university continuously for at least 20 years - Attained a Professional and Scientific classification of P19 or P20 - Terminated employment by retirement or death 2. Retiree representation on University Benefits Committee 3. Continue research and other academic activities if supported by academic unit
