Programs

The ISU Retirees Association sponsors a program and social hour one afternoon each month (September, October, January, February, March, and April), to which all ISU retirees and their  guests are invited. The ISU Retirees Newsletter, published four times per year, will give you the dates, locations, and guest speakers information. The programs are generally held at the ISU Alumni Center.

A holiday dinner is held in November or December; a picnic is in May.

An ISU tradition continues with the annual Memorial Day Ceremony.  Retirees, employees, and their spouses who died during the previous twelve months are remembered at a ceremony coordinated by a subcommittee of the ISU Retirees Association.  Announcements of this event are also printed in the ISU Retirees Newsletter.

In addition, the ISU Retirees Association was instrumental in the development of the university's College for Seniors. Now called the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Iowa State University (OLLI at ISU), the program offers classes for persons 50 years of age and older. Classes are in session for eight weeks in the fall, winter (four weeks), and spring. This program is directed by a board of directors and administered by the Iowa State University Alumni Association.
