The ISU Retirees Association sponsors a program and social hour one afternoon each month (September, October, January, February, March, and April), to which all ISU retirees and their guests are invited. The ISU Retirees Newsletter, published five times per year, will give you the dates, locations, and guest speakers information. The programs are generally held at the ISU Foundation.
A holiday dinner is held in November or December; a picnic is in May.
An ISU tradition continues with the annual Memorial Day Ceremony. Retirees, employees, and their spouses who died during the previous twelve months are remembered at a ceremony coordinated by a subcommittee of the ISU Retirees Association. Announcements of this event are also printed in the ISU Retirees Newsletter.
The ISU Diplomats is a group of retired faculty, staff, and spouses who respond to requests from university offices to assist at meetings, conferences, campus visits, and other events sponsored by Iowa State University. The volunteers are individuals who, when actively employed, served in diverse areas of the university and have the resources and interest to continue to do so in retirement.
In addition, the ISU Retirees Association was instrumental in the development of the College for Seniors. The College for Seniors offers classes for persons 50 years of age and older. Classes are in session for eight weeks in the fall, winter, and spring. This program is directed by a board of directors and administered by the Iowa State University Alumni Association.
