We Love Cy

Do you love Cy? Michael Steffenson '59 and his wife, Jean, do. That's why the Steffensons made a gift to create the first-ever statue of ISU's beloved mascot on the ISU campus. The bronze statue is now located on the east side of the ISU Alumni Center and has quickly become a favorite campus landmark.

1954 is a special number. It's the year Cy first appeared on campus. It's also the number of new bronze Cy replicas available through the ISU Alumni Association. Standing 14 inches tall, this museum-quality replica of the statue by Michael D'Ambrosi weighs approximately 30 pounds and sits on a walnut base. It's a truly unique collectible or gift.

And its price, naturally, is $1,954 for members of the ISU Alumni Association. ($2,154 for nonmembers.)

Cy's our guy
Since hatching in 1954, Cy has earned several distinctions, including winner of CBS Sportsline's "Most Dominant Mascot" contest in 2007 and of the Capital One Mascot Challenge in 2008.

Cy has a unique place in college mascot lore. Since a cyclone was a difficult mascot to depict in costume, members of ISU's Pep Council chose to create a mascot using one of the school colors: cardinal. Cy's name, of course, is short for "Cyclones."
