2008 Graduation Checklist
Graduation Checklist
Congratulations, graduate! Check out the following ideas to help you transition from student to alum:
- Join the Iowa State University Alumni Association. Membership makes a difference in the lives of students and beyond, and you will receive many personal benefits in return. A New Grad membership is only $30!
- Do you need short-term medical insurance? You're probably no longer covered under your parents' health coverage. Do you need a health plan until you get coverage through a new employer?
- Moving into a new place? Do you need renter's insurance? Make sure your residence and your belongings are covered. Click on "Renter's Insurance" for more info.
- Speaking of moving, have you given us your new contact information? Fill out our "Stay Connected" form, call us at (877) ISU-ALUM, or log on to CySpace to update your address, e-mail, and phone number information.
- And while you're at it, members get a discount on moving services and a discount on moving boxes.
- Find other Iowa Staters, even as you move from campus. The ISU Alumni Association is connecting alumni in YOUR community with its local clubs program. Check out the list of clubs to see if there is one in your area.
- If your parents need ideas for your graduation gift, direct them to the Alumni Association. They can purchase a plaque for you on the Wall of Alumni and Friends, buy you a commemorative art piece from Sticks, give you your very own Campanile replica, or order a beautiful frame for your diploma.
- Looking for a job? Members of the Alumni Association can use CySpace to look up Iowa State connections in the online directory, post business ads in Cy's Network, and network for professional development.
- If you're continuing your education, you can test better and save money with discounted GRE, GMAT, LSAT, or MCAT live lectures or self-study Kaplan Test Prep courses in Des Moines or Iowa City. The discount applies to all members of the ISU Alumni Association.
- Check out what the Young Alumni Council, a group dedicated to your demographic, is doing to help keep you engaged in ISU.
- Finally, don't forget to visit! The Iowa State University Alumni Center will be open in June 2008 (420 Beach Ave.) We can't wait to see you there!
