OLLI Online

When you take an OLLI ONLINE course, on your computer screen you will see and hear exactly what the participants at the ISU Alumni Center are seeing and hearing. If you have questions, you will be able to ask them through a chat window.

A document with the basic information needed by the participants will be provided before the online course begins. We know that OLLI ONLINE will not replace the experience of being here in person, but it is another opportunity to participate if you are not able to join us at the Alumni Center.

Reasons to register for an OLLI ONLINE course:

  • You live too far away from Ames to attend each week
  • You can’t commit to a schedule due to the health of a family member
  • You are over 50, but have a job that doesn’t allow you to take classes during the day
  • You have commitments that day, but really want to take the class

Reason to take a course that has the OLLI ONLINE option:

  • You want to take a course, but know you won’t be able to attend some of the sessions because you will be out of town. With OLLI ONLINE, you can attend classes in the Alumni Center while in town, but watch recorded classes when you return home.

To take an OLLI ONLINE course you will need the following:

  • High-speed connection to the Internet
  • A computer that is not more than three years old
  • Speakers or headphones

How to view the course

  • You can watch each session live and send questions through a chat window
  • A recorded version can be watched later

Two weeks before the course begins, you will receive an email with a link that will test your ability to connect each week. For more information, please call the OLLI office (515-294-3192).
