APRIL NEWSLETTER

NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT

As we look to close another academic year at Iowa State I am pleased to continue to serve you all as president of the Greek Alumni Alliance. Throughout my term as president, I have been proud of the work that we have accomplished and look forward to what is next for the GAA. With that being said, I think the recent events and trends in our community are not to be taken lightly. We have an obligation as alumni of our various organizations to serve our undergraduate organizations and help them make informed and thoughtful decisions. It is imperative that we not take our roles lightly, as we all want to see the Greek Community at Iowa State University be its very best in all aspects. I look forward to continuing to collaborate and work with each of you to better serve our alumni, undergraduate members, and organizations. I hope to see you all at our membership meeting on Thursday.

-Josh Carper, GAA President

A SUCCESSFUL REUNION

The Greek Alumni Alliance held its second-annual All Greek Alumni Reunion during ISU’s 2016 Homecoming weekend. More than 90 ISU Greek alumni gathered at the ISU Alumni Center for a reception with food, fun, and reminiscing before the Homecoming Pep Rally and ExCYtment in the Streets.

LIFETIME OF SERVICE

In 2016, we recognized Warren and Bev Madden with the Lifetime of Service Award for their incredible service not only to the Greek Alumni Alliance, but also the Greek Community as a whole. They both have spent countless hours and shown tremendous dedication to make the Greek Community a significant and meaningful part of Iowa State University. As part of this award, the Greek Alumni Alliance dedicated a bench to be placed in the Greek Triangle as a token of our appreciation for all that they have done.

PRE-VESPERS RECEPTION

The Greek Alumni Alliance was honored to host a Pre-Vespers Reception this year at the ISU Alumni Center to culminate another Greek Week at Iowa State University. We saw over 100 attend the reception; Jeremy Galvin, alumnus of the Alpha Omicron Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi and current vice president of development for the Iowa State University Foundation, was our keynote speaker. It was with great pleasure that we awarded the following Alumni Involvement Grants and honored one recipient of the Alumnus of Year during the reception as well. Thanks to all who attended, and we look forward to hosting the event again next spring.
