Danfoss Power Solutions – a world-class provider of mobile hydraulics for the construction, agriculture and other off-highway vehicle markets – is a segment of the Danfoss Group, which is based in Nordborg, Denmark. The company provides driving power to our changing world, as their products push, pull, propel, lift and haul with the precision and efficiency only hydraulics can provide.
This award celebrates the tremendous partnership that Danfoss and Iowa State University have enjoyed for nearly 45 years. At Danfoss’ Ames location, Iowa State graduates represent more than 20 percent of the overall workforce – with a large number of those hires holding engineering degrees.
Just as Iowa State’s presence is prominent at Danfoss, the company has made a significant impact on campus as well. Their long-standing support has provided funding for a wide variety of organizations and areas at Iowa State, including the Marston Hall renovation and laboratory space across campus. With the dedication of Sukup Hall, the building became the new home for the Danfoss Fluid Power Teaching Laboratory and the Danfoss Agricultural Sensing and Mechatronics Laboratory. The two labs represent a critical interface between agriculture and engineering.
This award is not the first time Danfoss has been recognized for its dedication to excellence. In 2016, the company was named the Ersnt & Young Entrepreneur of the Year (Denmark) and received the Expo Innovation Award and the Bentley, Be Inspired Award. In 2015, the company received the Alliance to Save Energy Star of Energy Efficiency Award and the AHR Innovation Award. Danfoss President Robert Wilkins won the Air-Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute’s Distinguished Service Award in 2014. Danfoss has also received a Climate Protection Award and Canada’s Energy Efficiency Award.
While Danfoss Power Solutions always forms strong relationships within the communities where the company is located around the world, the Ames office has proven to be an ideal hub for partnership, innovation and growth.
