Brian May has long been known as a face for Iowa State University in the Mile High City, serving as a passionate volunteer for the ISU Alumni Association Club of Denver and, more importantly, as an engaged connector of ISU alumni and friends to each other.
May, who for many years served as president, has played an instrumental role in strengthening the Denver club in visible ways – through his coordination of the club’s annual golf outing and gamewatch events, his support of family events and ski outings, through his participation in the annual Cy’s Days of Service initiative, and by working with his employer over the years to provide “Dollars for Doers” grant funding to the ISU Alumni Association.
A business development executive for Avnet Technology Solutions in Broomfield, Colo., May supports not only with the ISUAA Club of Denver, but also local charities such as the American Heart Association, Bessie’s Hope, the Walk to End Alzheimers, and Avnet Cares.
The youngest of four boys in his family who graduated from Iowa State, May was a walk-on member of the men’s swimming and diving team when he arrived on campus and ended his Cyclone athletics career as a team captain for a top-25 program.
May is a life member of both the ISU Alumni Association and ISU Letterwinners Club, as well as a Cyclone Club member.
