Brad Dell 2017

Ames, Iowa

Brad Dell is currently an associate professor of theatre who initially came to Iowa State as a theatre lecturer in 2005 after years of experience in directing and theatre company administration. An associate member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, Dell has for the past 12 years channeled his talent and passion toward helping ISU students. He has annually produced musicals and plays for ISU Theatre, including Stars Over VEISHEA from 2005-2014, and serves as Region 5 chair for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) and as artistic director for the Iowa Stage Theatre Company. Thanks to Dell’s mentorship, an Iowa State student director has twice won KCACTF’s Region 5 directing prize and traveled to Washington, D.C., to work with other top student directors and nationally renowned theatre artists.

“Brad makes you want to continue to learn and grow because he loves this art and his students so much,” his nominator writes. “From Brad I have learned not only how to be a better, more confident director, but how to be a better person.”
