Dr. Thomas Hill (A) recently retired from his position as Senior Vice President for Student Affairs after leading the division for nearly 20 years. He now serves as Senior Policy Adviser to ISU President Steven Leath on student experience issues and as Iowa State’s representative on the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions. A New Orleans native and 1972 Olympic bronze medalist who has been inducted into the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame, Hill has research experience in the areas of student-athlete development and minority identity development. In his role at the helm of ISU’s student affairs division, Hill oversaw all aspects of the student experience – from student health and counseling to student organizations to mediating conflict, and he was active in numerous national leadership organizations for student affairs professionals. He has been well known and widely engaged in the student community throughout his tenure at ISU. “I am thankful for Dr. Hill’s work and the legacy he will leave at Iowa State University,” says his nominator. “His work is embedded in the ISU culture and makes a positive difference with students, faculty, and staff. He inspires through his tenacity, support, and dedication to all ISU students.”
