Tina Hillman is not just a two-time NCAA and three-time Big 12 Conference champion in the shot put, she’s also an academic All-American, a volunteer leader, and a recipient of the Gender & Sexuality Equity Change Agent Award. She has been a strong example and an outspoken advocate for the pansexual community – both on campus and nationally with co-founder Cyd Zeigler of, which nominated her for Female Athlete of the Year honors. She has been named ISU Female Athlete of the Year and Delaware Athlete of the Year, one of the “Women Impacting ISU,” and a member of ISU’s “Farm Strong Squad,” in addition to receiving first-team academic all-Big 12 and ISU Scholar-Athlete honors.

Among the leadership opportunities Tina has embraced on campus are roles as treasurer and community outreach co-chair for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, member of the LGBTA Alliance, participant in the LEAD retreat, and speaker at Uhuru magazine’s “What Matters to Me and Why” event. She has volunteered with the ISU Letterwinners Club, Special Olympics, Youth and Shelter Services, Food at First, and ACCESS women’s shelter. She has served as a CASA advocate for abused and neglected children and interned with the Youth and Shelter Services residential treatment facility for drug and alcohol addiction.
