Biochemistry and Spanish
Jeff Carley is a scholar and researcher of the highest caliber who has thrived during his undergraduate career at Iowa State University, balancing not only a double major but also graduate-level courses and a variety of extracurricular activities. As a result, he’s received numerous scholarships and been inducted into the University Honors program, as well as Phi Beta Kappa.
For Jeff’s ongoing efforts researching neurological proteins, he has received the Linder Family Undergraduate Research Fellowship, represented the university at the University of Iowa’s Summer Undergraduate MSTP Research Program, and received the award for Best Undergraduate Poster at the 2016 Stupka Undergraduate Research Symposium – an event he is co-chairing for 2017. He was also recently selected by the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology to present his work at the 2017 national Environmental Biology Meeting.
Jeff, who plans to attend medical school in the fall, is currently serving as ISU’s Vice President for Campus Visits after serving countless families as a Student Admissions Representative and being a Destination Iowa State team leader. He is active with both ISU’s Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular Biology Club and Biochemistry and Biophysics Learning Community and has served as a private Spanish tutor for more than two years. He is a member of the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.
