The Iowa State football team played in its fifth bowl game in six years Dec. 31 against the No. 14 TCU Horned Frogs in the 5th annual Houston Bowl (originally the galleryfurniture.com Bowl) in Houston, Texas.

BOWL EVENTS

The ISU Alumni Association, in conjunction with the ISU Department of Athletics and the Cyclone Gridiron Club, sponsored various events for fans surrounding ISU's appearance in the 2005 Houston Bowl. These included:

Friday, Dec. 30 - ISU Spirit Rally
4-7 p.m. | Budweiser Plaza, Reliant Stadium

  • Program at 5:45 p.m. with appearances by Coach McCarney, ISU players, Cy, the ISU marching band, and ISU pom and cheer squads
  • Co-sponsored by the ISU Alumni Association and ISU Department of Athletics

Saturday, Dec. 31 - Pre-Game Tailgate Party
10 a.m.-1 p.m. | Reliant Center Hall E (southwest corner)

  • Food and beverages available for purchase
  • Official welcome at 11:30 a.m.
  • Co-sponsored by the ISU Alumni Association and ISU Department of Athletics

Saturday, Dec. 31 - New Year's Eve Party
9 p.m.- 1 a.m. | Exhibition Hall
A sold-out New Year's Eve Party was planned for all Cyclone fans and friends. There was a live band, cash bar, light snacks, party favors, and a champagne toast at midnight. Co-sponsored by the ISU Alumni Association, ISU Department of Athletics, and Cyclone Gridiron Club.
